Time for part II of the F1 Prediction league, next weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix will be unpredictable. Its the first time the teams will run in hot temperatures (highs of 33 degrees) so there's great uncertainty.
Can Raikkonen build on his Australian victory or will Alonso and Vettel strike back? It's time for you to have your call.
So far the standings are as follows.

Which driver will run the longest stint on one set of tyres?
The random is fairly self-explanatory. If there is a tie, the deciding factor will be which lap the stint starts on (the earlier the better - the earlier in the race the more fuel in the car so the greater the achievement).
F1.com will be used to decide results. As there are 22 potential picks and we don't want to limit point opportunities the following points are available.

I think we'll have a more 'normal' weekend (with hotter conditions) and Red Bull will be very quick. My only doubt is constructors as Webber continues to get eaten up at the start of the race, all in for a Vettel victory then.

I dont think that we will have normal weekend at Sepang. There is no way that qualification or race be without rain so i think that we need to wait Bahrein to see where everybody is, (i dont count on china, its too cold there).
ReplyDeleteI just hope for at least some dry running at Sepang.
Rain is about 40-50% chance on each day this weekend so we'll probably see rain at some point.
ReplyDeleteI think Malaysia will be surprisingly different to Australia. I expect Mercedes and Red Bull to go a lot better than before. Lotus may have an average weekend (maybe grab the last step on the podium).
This is just mere speculation though, can't wait to see how it plays out.

It's just almost unpredictable. Red Bull will be better in hotter conditions, but tyre degradation will be an issue again. If we have a lot of rain, even Mercedes will be a serious contender...

Thanks everyone who's made your picks, only Jasper to wait on now - about 20 minutes left. I'll put together a list of everyone's picks and make a new post during FP1.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
I'm really sorry Scott, I have had no Internet access the last 48 hours on my phone or laptop so, have not only been unable to pick my drivers for this weekend but also unable to watch FP1 or FP2. Will post my picks here; have deliberately made them more outlandish to try and make it fairer, but totally understand if they're not accepted etc as there was a deadline!

Hi Jasper, I've responded below. I hope you understand. Feel free to make the best picks possible based on the information in FP1 and FP2.

ReplyDeleteHi Jasper, I thought it was odd that you hadn't posted.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you to make completely new picks today (you don't need to stick with your outlandish picks). I'm afraid the 50% penalty across qualifying, race and constructors will need to apply though (as was stated in the rules - for picks after FP1 starts but before Saturday) so the following points would apply for qualifying and race:
1st 4 points
2nd 3 points
3rd 2 points
4th 1 points
And for constructors:
1st 3 points
2nd 2 points
3rd 1 point
Random
Will be unaffected.
Overall you'll be able to score 14 points this weekend so it's not a severe penalty, in the prediction league last year the winner had a weekend with 1 point. I'm sorry I can't flex the rules anymore. I'm sure you're telling the truth but it sets a bad precedent.
Okay thank you so much - I completely understand. I didn't expect you to accept anything anyway as I wasn't aware of this rule, so am grateful nonetheless :-)
ReplyDeleteHere are slightly less outrageous picks!

Race: Alonso
Constructors: Ferrari
Random: Grosjean
