Australia 2014 Results and Championship

A thrilling start to the championship with Kiszol starting the season in style! After winning the 2013 season finale, Kiszol moved from Sauber (the Constructors Champions) to Red Bull and showed it wasn't just the car. This victory was pretty dominant and represents Kiszol's fourth PL win (the highest of any player).

This win was made to look easy, just like Rosberg's steps to glory courtesy of Hamilton's retirement. This event took almost 50% of the players out of contention for the win. A few others predicted Raikkonen (Joe and Chris) or Massa (Brian) to win, which equally merited no points. The only other race scorer was Alonso (Paul Smith and Aled Lewis) who finished a steady fourth.

Well done to Sangan and MetalGatherer who occupy the other podium spots after successfully picking Rosberg.

It's clear from the first race that Mercedes start the season in a majorly strong position. Williams wasted a golden opportunity and will head to Malaysia with hopes of making the podium.

In the F1 PL Constructors Championship Lotus and Red Bull have defied the real F1 season and line up in first and second positions. Lotus were runners up last year and will be hoping to finally claim the grand prize!

Random

The random category involved picking the teammates who would finish the closest in positions over qualifying, race and the fastest lap.

Unfortunately for Williams and Caterham players, Massa and Kobayashi never got a chance to complete a full lap therefore I have awarded a full maximum 21 points for the fastest lap category.

F1.com lists no fastest lap finishing position so there was certainly an argument for not including these pickers in the same 'league' as everyone else. Given the uncertainty/lack of clarity I thought the 21 point solution was the best compromise especially as the other interpretation led to me scoring points. I'd rather give the benefit of the doubt to others in this situation.

Marussia was an incredible pick for Aled Lewis so this was a well deserved 4 points! Congratulations!

The Malaysia race is scheduled for 28-30 March, please look out for the thread which I'll post on Monday 24th or Tuesday 25th.

As discussed at the end of last year. If anyone has any ideas about a random category they'd like to see, please post on this page - random discussion topic. I'm happy to discuss and refine any ideas people have.

Also I've tried re-working the site a bit e.g. the stats behind it, updating everything to this year. I'll continue to update and try to get everything streamlined. If anyone has any suggestions about this also happy to hear.

See you soon!

  4. Wow, a great start to the season! Keeping the momentum from last year. My goal for this year is better consistency than what I had last year and a handful of podiums. Good result in the constructors as well, just one point behind Lotus! Bring it on, keba! :)
