Russia Results and Championship Standings (16/19)

Russia had Hamilton stamped all over it from FP1 (where he looked faster but failed to hook the sectors up). In FP2, FP3 and qualifying Hamilton excelled and the only moment of the weekend which shifted the balance towards Rosberg was on the run down to turn 2. Clinical from Hamilton who takes a 17 point lead into the rest of the championship - can Rosberg stop his momentum in one of Hamilton's best races?

Fine performances from Valtteri Bottas and Jenson Button led to significant points scored for Williams and McLaren in their respective championship battles with Ferrari and Force India.

In the prediction league  there has been a complete shift in the balance. Red Bull's poor weekend made this the second poorest scoring weekend of the whole championship (after Britain). There has been a change in first, second, third, fourth and fifth in the championship and Nat moves into the top nine after starting in China (Round 4 without season). Also there has been a change at the top of the Constructors Championship.

More detailed results

Here is the team offers situation - teams will be assessing drivers from Singapore to the end of the United States GP.

The different colours represent different seat battles - grey (first driver), brick (second driver). Handicap based on a specific formula which takes account of:
  • Current year points
  • Current year wins and podiums (minorly weighted as these are already included in points. A win or a podium definitely brings a little extra prestige to a team too)
  • Average points per race (all-time - may later become last three years)
  • Who the current driver is and loyalty

Progress:

Inputs and random

Category 1 - Kvyat stormed 4 tenths ahead of Ricciardo which meant no one scored points
Category 2 - Kvyat beat Vergne, Hulkenberg and Raikkonen in qualifying. Congratulations to Joe and Brian who predicted this perfectly.
Category 3 - Vergne beat Kvyat in the race (unfortunate for Kvyat pickers after an excellent qualifying)
Category 4 - Only Metalgatherer predicted that McLaren would beat Alonso, well done. Most others picked up points throughout.
Category 5 - Vettel only beat Raikkonen in two sessions across the weekend (FP2 and race)

The tie-break was decided by which pickers were the closest to 30.2 seconds (difference between Merc and McLaren).

Please join the discussion in the random thread if you have any suggestions for the random categories for the next few races. It would be amazing to get some more input from others to make randoms unique.

Take care until the US GP!

    1. Thats incredibley gracious of you Sangan. I have a lot of respect for you as a picker, so far this year you have beaten me in constructors points and have managed a 3 podium streak something I have never done. I wouldn't count yourself out of the individual title or Lotus out of the constructors. Best of luck in the next race.

    2. Hard luck Sangan, Red Bull were dreadful here. In fairness not many people read the track as a power circuit - a lot of the experts were talking it up as another Singapore. Curious that RB suffered even more here than in Monza, think the heavy fuel consumption hurt them in the race.
